Wilma Harlan
WASHINGTON - Wilma J. Harlan, 91, of Washington, passed away at 6:06 p.m. on 
Sunday, March 7, 2021, at her home. 

She was born on November 29, 1929, in Albany, KY, to the late James E. and 
Mossie W. Beaty Armstrong. She married Arthur D. Harlan on January 24, 1949, 
in Albany, KY. He preceded her in death on June 9, 1991. 

Surviving are her daughter, Diane (Bob) Ginther of Washington; daughter-in-
law, Joyce Harlan of Washington; four grandchildren, Ronda (Jason) Long of 
East Peoria, Josh (Susan) Harlan of Washington, Jeff (Vilay) Harlan of Lombard 
and Jerry Harlan of Washington; seven great-grandchildren, Lily and Jacob 
Harlan, Carter, Emry and Eve Harlan and Laney and Lexi Long; and three 
brothers, Danny (Nellie), Ben (Janette) and David (Ava) Armstrong, all of 
Albany, KY. 

She was also preceded in death by her son, James Harlan on December 4, 2020; 
two brothers; and one sister. 

For many years, Wilma taught Kindergarten at her home in Sunnyland, giving 
countless kids a wonderful headstart. Later, she owned Art's Hardware with her 
husband for 22 years. She was a longtime member of Roland Manor Baptist 
Church, serving there in many ways over the years. Wilma was a hardworking, 
generous and faithful woman who will be greatly missed. 

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Deiters 
Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington. Pastor Steve Hardin will officiate. 
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2021, at the funeral 
home. Interment will be at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Roland Manor Baptist Church.
