Government of some type seems to be necessary for the welfare of the public. Government can have two purposes in regard to the people governed. One purpose is to control the people so that they do not harm each other, especially the ruling oligarchy, and are not harmed by others. The other purpose is to help the people to obtain the necessities of life and enable the pursuit of happiness. Conservatives seem to favor government control while liberals favor government help. Libertarians, on the other hand, oppose both government control and government help.
Our rulers want to know all about us to facilitate their control of our lives. Below are some internet links about the ways they can monitor and control us. Basically, we can escape their control only by living alone in the wilderness without most modern conveniences or social contacts.
